CTA Disaster Relief Fund for Recent Fires

Our hearts and thoughts go out to the students, educators and families impacted by the wildfires raging in northern and southern California. With more than 30,000 acres burning in the Blue Cut fire in southern California, 82,000 people have been evacuated and displaced. While there is now 55 percent containment in the Clayton fire in northern California’s Lake County – just adjacent to the areas ravaged by fires last year – there is still a lot of work to do.
If you are a chapter president in one of these areas, please let our members know that help is available through CTA’s Disaster Relief Fund. Grants are available for homes and local schools, including temporary displacement and catastrophic damage grants.
We also want to recognize and thank our union brothers and sisters of the California Professional Firefighters who have been battling these wildfires and others throughout the dry summer. It has been a devastating season, and we must all come together to support these communities.
